Education

Reverend Moon has been preparing for the future with plans for educational projects ranging from elementary schools to an international university. He has made strenuous efforts towards the moral education of gifted individuals through the establishment of educational institutions such as Sun Hwa Arts (middle) School, Sun Hwa Arts High School, Sun Jung Women's Middle School, Sun Jung High School, Sun Moon University, and educational institutions in the United States, Brazil, and other nations. He has also established a college of engineering at Yun Byun University in Beijing, China.

Affirming that the goal of education lies, aside from in the imparting of knowledge, in raising students to become people of generosity and moral character who worship God, love their nations and love humanity, Reverend Moon has outlined the philosophy behind his efforts in the field of education: Love Heaven, Love Humankind, Love Your Country. Today, the love which the world most needs today is not that which is to be given only to God, only to people, or only to one's nation, but is one love for all. These three loves are inseparable. Reverend Moon regards these three loves as the harmonized and unified love underlying his educational work.

This is also in keeping with the traditional values of Kyung-Chun-Sasang (Ideology of worshipping Heaven), Hong-Ick-Inkan (Devotion to the welfare of humankind), Kwang-Myung Kookto (Creation of a bright nation), Ehwa Segye (World founded on principles), conceived by our ancestors, and is the essence of ethical values all human beings desire today. Thus, Reverend Moon's work in the field of education emphasizes the best possible education centered on eternal true love, through which all our traditional, present, and future values should come to fruition.

Sun Hwa Educational Foundation

Sun Hwa Educational Foundation was established to work for the realization of Reverend Moon's vision for holistic education, coined in the motto Love Heaven, Love Humankind, Love Your Country.

In 1973, the Little Angels Arts School was established under the Korean Cultural Foundation. Later, in 1977, as the need for a full-scale educational institution arose, the Sun Hwa Educational Foundation was established following the founding of Sun Hwa Arts High School. The foundation manages several schools as its affiliated educational institutions including Kyung Bok Elementary School, Sun Hwa Arts Middle and High Schools, as well as Sun Jung Women's Middle School and Sun Jung High School which were affiliated in 1987.

Reverend Moon has poured his support and investment into the foundation in the belief that the revitalization of education requires an appropriate philosophy providing clear direction for the future for nations and the world. It has become common practice for educational observers to visit the Sun Hwa Educational Foundation on visits to Korea.
