Rev. Sun Myung Moon:

His Works

Media

THE MEDIA: PROMOTING TRUTH AND VALUES IN "SOCIETIES CONSCIENCE".

Because he ses  the media as conscience of society,  Reverend Moon has a longstanding interest in the media. He has invested heavily in creating alternative news media in major capitals of the world, including Washingon D. C, Seoul and Tokyo.

In His Words:
"The media must be free and must be self-governing. And self-governing media must also be a moral media. A moral media use their freedom to project, preserve and promote God-given human rights and dignity…A moral media must lead the fight against drug abuse, pornography, and the many other destructive vices of society. Thus, the media must become the conscience of society.”

The Washington Times

Washington TimesFounded in 1982, The Washington Times stands among America’s premier newspapers with the motto Get It First and Get it Right.  The second largest daily in Washington, D.C., The Washington Times was founded as alternative voice to confront America’s two great challenges: first, Soviet-style communism, which amassed great power and was at the peak of its influence in the early 1980s; and second, a battle of values between a secular media-driven culture and the rising opposition of people of faith joining forces under the tenets of morality and religious faith.

Pundits predicted that The Washington Times would not last six months. What they did not understand was Reverend Moon’s iron determination, motivated by his love for God to help America surmount these two challenges on which hinged the future of the world.

Two U.S. presidents testified to the value of The Washington Times:

President Ronald Reagan:
“The American people know the truth and you, my friends at The Washington Times, have told it to them. It wasn’t always the popular thing to do, but you were a loud and powerful voice. Like me, you arrived in Washington at the beginning of the most momentous decade of the century. Together, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work. We—actually the people themselves—launched the greatest peacetime growth in history, cut taxes, deregulated, while manufacturing productivity rose nearly four percent per year. And, oh yes, we won the Cold War. You faithfully chronicled these dramatic events as well as mirroring the new sense of optimism I felt America needed. Once again, America stood like a shining city on the hill.”
President George H.W. Bush
“When I think of The Washington Times, I think of a publication that has brought much-needed balance to the way Washington is covered these days. I think of a paper which has earned the respect of its readers. I think of a news organization that maintained its integrity at a time when many in the industry are engaged in sensationalistic and tabloid journalism.”

Other leaders comments about The Washington Times:
Senator Orrin Hatch:
A newspaper of the first order-dedicated to truth, fairness and good old American common sense...I rely on The Washington Times for the real story behind the headline."

Dr. Laura Schlessinger, radio talk show host:
I still say of the the newspapers in America, they most consistently have the most intelligently researched, up-to-date-everybody shoujld be interested in know this materialon a daily basis. I'm just really impressed."

William Kristol, Editor of The Weekly Standard magazine.
