Father's Birthday Update #3

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

There is a great atmosphere of excitement at our new national headquarters, Upshur House. We are up all day and most of the night preparing for Father's birthday. It is exciting and True Father's 80th birthday is going to be great, one of the most stunning events in the history of our movement, as it should be. Bring yourself and your best contacts, because it's going to be great. And, connected to that, it's going to be very full, and well, there's no easy way to express it, but it is a formal affair meant for those among us who are over 21 years old. Perhaps some of you, like me, had planned to bring your mature teens. I'm not going to, and we ask that you not also.

Overflow Room:

We are creating a fantastic video production, along with the symphony and ballet, so the stage for the ballet, and the floor space for the control and camera positions, take more table space than we would like, but it is unavoidable. There are 236 tables in the main room. At ten people each, that's 2,360 people in the main room. To allow as many as possible to be there, we are setting up an overflow room with a capacity of 86 tables. It will be served with large video screens.

So who sits where? Our present idea is that members in the outlying regions, who have traveled a very long way to attend and who do not occupy that many tables, should all be in the main room. This means that members from the nearby regions (DC, NY and NJ) that occupy a high number of tables, may have to sit in the overflow room if they do not bring guests. Also it is possible that businesses or departments who do not bring guests will be in the overflow room. The point is to bring guests!

National headquarters will assign a group of tables for each area (Regions, conference groups, departments, businesses). The leader of that area will decide who sits where within that area. We trust and advise the leaders to show due respect to those members who made their offering or paid for seats earliest, balanced with the responsibility to accommodate guests and elders.

Concerning this table issue, we are praying about it and working hard to make the most fair table distribution. We want to accommodate everyone and their guests, but keep in mind that we have the True Family, world church leadership, ambassadors and other high priority people whom True Parents want to work with, and more. So please join us in prayer that our table assignments work out best for everyone.

Grateful Deadlines:

The first deadline to receive all names of attendees was today, January 17 at NOON. We have received a high number of names, so thank you to those who sent them in. To those who didn't, I encourage you to do so quickly. The supply of tables, especially in the main room, is not unlimited. The final deadline is January 19 at 6 p.m.

As I said in the last memo, you meet the deadline by sending the money and name list. If you send a name list without money, we appreciate it and we will record the names, but we will not reserve the table until we receive the payment. In other words, when we receive the payment, then your table is held for you absolutely. If we don't have your payment, we will give your table to another group that pays, if necessary.

Avoid Duplications:

By the way, one reason we need your NAME LISTS is to avoid duplicates. There are cases in which one person was listed at his department table and at his church community table. We do not want empty seats. Please be sure, especially DC and NY, that your people are not already going under their department or business.

True Parents' Birthday Offering

We would like to remind and encourage everyone that part of our True Parents' Birthday responsibility is to fulfill the $2,000 offering to Korea. We want to really go over the top at this time, fulfilling a great True God's Day (been there, done that), a great Birthday bash, a great event on the hill February 2, great ALC's, and finally be able to make a big offering for the 80th Birthday in Korea at Blessing 2000. It seems almost impossible, but I think we can do it. We're the elder son nation, after all. So have faith and make the offering. Those who fulfill $2,000 (or even Pledge to do so), including the True God's Day fee and whatever you offer for the Birthday, if that was a separate offering, will receive the four 80th birthday commemorative Hoon Dok Hae volumes. Good luck, everyone!

We will endeavor to keep you posted.
