ACLC Interfaith Gathering #3: New Jerusalem Family Church

by Rev. Barry Geller

Over 60 leaders and members gathered May 21, 2005 at True World Marine's Oceanic Cafˇ, NJ, for our third Interfaith Gathering of 2005. The event was enlightened by the welcoming remarks of Rev. Dong Woo Kim, regional director for New Jerusalem Family Church (New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware). He commented on the growth of world harmony through unification of the cultures.

Rev. Jesse Edwards, our keynote speaker, moved the audience with his testimony of family harmony and spiritual growth through his affiliation with the Family Federation, ACLC and the Middle East Peace Initiative. Four leaders responded to his remarks, including Pastor Alejandro Benjamin, a sociology professor at Bergen County Community College and Imam Ameer Salahud'din, a close friend and supporter of ACLC.

The event started out with the "Peace Under One God" video and a report from the most recent pilgrimage to the Middle East from the deputy mayor of West Orange, New Jersey, the Honorable Dr. Zal Velez.

This event is organized as a "gateway" presentation to build ongoing relationships with religious leaders and to introduce new leaders to our activities. We follow this event each month with a True Family Values seminar one week after our Interfaith Gathering. Last month 12 pastors attended our TFV seminar, where they heard Rev. Alain Tamelessio present the first two lectures in a series of six presentations. Mrs. Noriko Sprague and Mrs. Christine Libon offered a beautiful rendition of "When You Walk Through a Storm" to entertain us. We closed the event with 'Amazing Grace". Special thanks to our M.C., Mr. David Eaton, and our ACLC regional coordinator, Rev. Dairo Ferrabolli.
