Indemnity

Note: These notes are taken from a Peace TV video clip. They cannot be published as definitive texts and should never be used in the future as an "official" publication of True Parent's words. However, they do provide a good idea of the "spirit" of the message. -- Rev. Katsumi Kambashi

Mother spoke briefly but slowly with dignity. From the beginning to the end, she tried to hold back her tears:

"Ambassadors for Peace who came from all over Korea, I am glad to see you all. We saw a video clip of Rev. Moon and heard his speech and a long time has already passed. I would like to ask you one thing and I will speak briefly to you with the title '탕감 (Indemnity).'

The period when Rev. Moon and I were born, although there was 23-year difference between his birthday and mine, could be called the 'dark ages' or ' turbulent era' in Korean history. Right after being liberated from Japanese imperialism, the Korean peninsula was divided into the South and North by two different ideologies. Then the Korean war broke out. It was a miserable environment where Korea could not stand up again by herself. But in God's providence, 16 nations sent by the UN joined the war and saved Korea.

60 years after the war, Rev. Moon, as a private person, sent the Little Angels to those 16 nations, which Korea as a nation could not do. Their performance consoled the hearts of the veterans, and reminded them that the Korean people are not ungrateful people. (Applause)

God's providence never develops without going through indemnity. Those who studied the Divine Principle know it well. 'Indemnity' does not necessarily means something bad. It could give you a promise for the future. Rev. Moon has unfolded God's providence on earth during this really difficult time.

Let's think of the Israelites from 2,000 years ago. It was the Messiah that they, under Roman dominion, were waiting for with the pride that they were chosen people. They believed that once the Messiah came, they would be liberated from everything and stand out in the world. However, providential history does not develop in such a fancy way. They did not know 'indemnity.' Consequently, they killed the only begotten-son of God. Then what happened to the Israelites? They became a people who were exiled for 2,000 years.

When an individual or nation, which Heaven has chosen, cannot fulfill their responsibilities, the providence will move from them to another individual or nation. After Jesus's resurrection, the history of Christianity began and 2,000 years have passed. Their hope has been Christ's Second Advent. But they did not know 'indemnity' either. They waited for the Messiah who was to come in a splendid manner on the clouds. However, as you know, it is Rev. Moon who came on earth as the Messiah of the Second Coming, Savior and True Parent. (Applause)

History of restoration through indemnity does not come easy. There cannot be any development in it without paying great indemnity step by step. At any point in history, has any great person been able to say during their lifetime, 'Everything has been done.' (She wiped her eyes with her handkerchief) Has there been anybody who lived such a life and could proclaim after having liberated God, 'Everything has been perfected, completed and concluded. The history of God's providence is at a new start now.' (Applause)

Korea is the same in this context. (Strongly) You have your responsibility. You cannot avoid it. You are standing at the center of God's providence, which is a blessed position. You should not merely stand there.

After the Seonghwa ceremony of Rev. Moon, I said 'There is no stop in our movement as the Unification Church. We will have only development in the future.' Peace cannot be realized while you are just sitting without doing anything. I will give you an example.

There was a man called Han Jun Jo on my mother's side. He sacrificed all his assets and money for his nation.

(Katsumi: About 400 years ago during the Chosun dynasty, he and his brother renovated bridges hung over the Dalrae River in order to welcome Chinese officials in his nation.)

Heaven remembered it and told him 'I will send you a great person among your descendants.'

(Katsumi: this was written in their genealogical record / 족보).

Pondering this history, I come to think that person is me. (She smiled shyly.) (Applause)

When I met Rev. Moon, I was young but I realized what the history of restoration through indemnity was. So though I was young, I was determined to definitely accomplish God's providence in my lifetime. (Applause) I talked about Han Jun Jo and that story tells us that a grateful mind is important. In the state of 100 % gratitude, the mind and body can be united. Then their neighbors become happy. I understood that.

Dear Ambassadors for Peace. When you live with gratefulness towards the grace that Heaven gave you, I am confident that you can make people around you happy in your family, society, nation and the world. You, Ambassadors for Peace are lucky people because you can live and work in the same time with True Parents of Heaven, Earth and Humankind who appear only one time on earth in history. (Applause)

Please do not be indebted. You should pay back your debt. In order to do so, you should widely raise the seeds of the truth around you. Will you do it? ('Yes!) I sincerely ask you to become honest, brave, and true Ambassadors for Peace who pledge, until the end of your life on earth, to return honor to Heaven in a higher, greater, and wider manner by indemnifying what you could not do until now in front of the True Father of Heaven, Earth and Humankind." (Applause)
