Compassion: Cold or Hot?

True Parents once said: "To love this world, is like trying to melt an iceberg with the heat of one's thumb!" Well, that's how compassion feels like...your hands move over toward the frozen heart of the person you care for...you naively expect the compassion oozing out of your heart, to wipe out the coldness in theirs... yet, instead, thumb, then hand and finally your whole body starts to absorb his or her coldness; you feel terrified that it may be the end for both of you!

Everything goes dark and cold all around you, no sign of life left in you or the person you are trying to help... yet, right when you are about to jump to the abyss of despair, a warm hand pulls you up...you assume it is the hand of God or some angel, but not really...

...quietly you feel the lips of the helper on your cheek... you finally get it... compassion you gave out, has returned to you as gratitude and you are both saved.
