The Words of the Song Family |
We would like to extend a cordial invitation to you to attend a European Leadership Conference on June 15-16 to consider 'Human Rights and the Protection of the Un-Empowered and the Dispossessed.' Distinguished delegates from many European countries will be in attendance. There is a draft program below including the speakers for the conference. The European Leadership Conference (ELC) sponsored by the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) and Women's Federation for World Peace (WFWP) is part of a series occurring in capitals around Europe.
Human rights issues are a major driving force behind current events. While there are too many issues to cover in a short conference we have invited a human rights specialists to highlight areas of concern to the UPF and WFWP and their Ambassadors for Peace network. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights finds a practical common ground with UPF and WFWP's conception of the sacred value of humankind, irrespective of belief or non-belief, as 'one family under God'.
After arrivals on June 14th the conference program will convene on June 15th in the House of Lords with speakers including Prof. Lord Bhikhu Parekh, Keith Best, Imam Dr. Abduljalil Sajid, Lord Ahmed of Rotherham, Baroness Sandip Verma, Willy FautrÈ (Human Rights Without Frontiers International), Aaron Rhodes (Executive Director of the International Helsinki Federation for Human Rights 1993-2007) TBC, and hosted by UPF- UK Patron, Lord King of West Bromwich (please see bio's below). The second day of the program, June 16th, will explore practical insights into upholding human rights and dignity in the Royal National Hotel on Russell Square which will be the venue and preferred accommodation.
