The Words of the Kahn Family

A Senior Statesman

Dear Editor (Stabroek News),

As one of the two Guyanese that were invited to Seoul, South Korea by the Universal Peace Federation for its 1st World Assembly, it was my pleasure and good fortune to be there, but I felt a special sense of pride seeing our own Guyanese, former Prime Minister, and now His Worship, The Mayor of the City of Georgetown, given such recognition and honor.

He was invited to be the first speaker at the launch of the conference, and was introduced as former Prime Minister of The Republic of Guyana. Later he was invited to address three hundred ladies from Japan.

I was truly happy when I heard that he was very instrumental in establishing the principles of the Universal Peace Federation, and its organizational structure.

Sometimes, maybe I should say most times, we do not realize the great people we have right here in Guyana, and we do not give them due recognition. Others have to recognize and give due accolades.

I ask how many Senior Statesmen do we have in Guyana? I am looking around and only see Brother Hamilton Green. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Yours truly,

Haji Roshan Khan
Ambassador of Peace
Universal Peace Federation
