Dear brothers and sisters,

Thursday, October 30th, ACLC DC region will hold a special banquet at Col. Rd. church. The following postcard has been sent out to our 300 close contacts. Please invite your contacts to this wonderful event.

Washington Family Church

Dear ACLC family, October 21, 2003

We have recently inaugurated the formation of the ACLC Sports League. This past September we held our first basketball tournament that brought together a multitude of church sponsored teams throughout the city. It was a huge success and gives us hope that by working together we can provide for the youth of our city a positive alternative to gang violence and other forms of destructive behavior. This project is now expanding to include other sports for both boys and girls. Also, we will be developing mentoring projects in other areas such media technology, journalism, fishing and dance.

On Thursday, October 30, 7:00 pm at Washington Family Church, 1610 Columbia Rd., we will be holding our 1st annual ACLC Sports Banquet. At this banquet we will be awarding trophies to our tournament champions. This will be your opportunity to find out how our ACLC program can benefit the youth of your own community. Another benefit is that this will be an opportunity for our ACLC family to come together, fellowship and find out more about other new exciting activities, as well.

One of those exciting activities will be the latest report from our latest (Oct 20-28) delegation to the Holy Land. We are making amazing breakthroughs toward brokering peace between Palestinians and Jews. Come and find out about this great hope and the important role your ACLC is playing in bringing peace in the Middle East! Start to make plans to travel on our future pilgrimages to the Holy Land at special prices reserved for ACLC members only. (We will share more on that at the banquet.)

Finally, that same evening, we will also be memorializing our dear brother Diamond Teague who was tragically gunned down as he heroically sacrificed his life in seeking to protect his friend from harm. Diamond was one of the outstanding members of Pastor Gregg Thomas' Second St. James team that journeyed this summer to Korea, under the ACLC banner, and brought home the silver medal. We will remember Diamond always as a fine Christian young man. He surely rests with Jesus. His passing only reaffirms our commitment to the sports league and underscores the importance of its success. See you on October 30th!

To RSVP, call 202-462-4179.

Sincerely,

Bishop C. Phillip Johnson
