The Words of the Freeland Family

Reflections on the 9th European Blessing Workshop

My experience of the Blessing Workshop was a lot different from what I expected and more of what I had hoped it to be. It was the first Blessing Workshop I had attended and prior to the workshop I asked quite a few people who had attended last year, of what they thought about it.

Since last year's workshop was attended by parents and not just Second Generation, feelings on behalf of some people were that some parents were trying to find eligible matches for their children as being the purpose for hem coming. This is something I really hoped wouldn't happen during this workshop and it didn't. I was really hoping that there would be an over-weighing focus on learning about the significance of the blessing, and what to think about in preparation for such a valuable step in life. I was all but disappointed over the fact that the workshop turned out to have this quality.

The lectures given by Siegfried Klamsteiner, concerned the importance of being raised from birth and onwards, in an environment and circumstances appropriate enough for being able to manage one of life's greatest challenges of being a member of a family. His lectures were quite scientific and generally appreciated by parents especially, as quite a few parents wished that they had known such knowledge before creating a family, encouraging us Second Generations to really keep this content in mind.

Mr. Hashimoto shared with us content concerning the significance of the Blessing centered upon models of the Divine Principle and included many interesting testimonies which he shared from his own life experience. I really appreciated the attitude he conveyed that Second Generation should have, that we can really receive the blessing from God in the purest way possible. This is because I know that many Second Generation fear of making mistakes that would prevent them from pleasing Heavenly Father, True Parents and their own parents.

One activity held during the workshop, after lectures was discussions in groups with parents and children. I think that this helped us all in the way of getting to know each other's positions in the family, as parents and children. I could understand the purpose behinds True Father's words in saying that the Kingdom of Heaven is a life of reporting and consulting. Through doing so, we can really help each other so much.

Another thing I really liked about the workshop was that we could build a culture of heart and I could feel that we were truly one big family. I am pretty sure that this impressed the staff of the youth hostile we stayed at. What I could gain through this workshop was also, a better relationship to my own parents whose hearts I have not understood so well. Furthermore, I thought it was good that this workshop could be combined with my STF experience and I sincerely feel that the activities we were doing prior to the workshop prepared me to be able to appreciate the blessing workshop in general. I would like to conclude by thanking the organizers of the workshop whose efforts really meant so much and I feel sorry that the workshop duration time was not long enough for all that you had prepared for the participants to receive. Many thanks to those who came from far distances, such as Jin Soo Kim, to share with us about the heart we should have owards our True Parents.

Right then, good good. God Bless!

Much true love to everyone!
