Cherry

Chris Sedel

Cherry blossoms in an August gale
Hurricane suffocates its weird wail:

Rising sun is soon a flickering solace
In war winds that loosen a mother’s promise.

Seed strewn wildly under a stormy whip
Seeing seasons from an endless skit.

Evenings are dark clouds to what days bring
Imprudent creatures speak soft but do not sing
Daughter falls on a hungry earth who proclaims: "I am king."

Enduring arms reach to that red crimson sphere,
Like a heart to its pearl, never too near.

The first letter of each line spells out the name of the poet.
