On June 9th, 2004,IIFWP’s Office of UN Relations had a unique opportunity to have a private meeting with the President of the 58th General Assembly, H. E. Mr. Julian Robert Hunte (H. E. Mr. Julian Robert Hunte - Bio).

President Hunte has established three main priorities during the 58th Session of the UN General Assembly:

1. Development

2. United Nations Reform and Strenghening

3. Peace and Security

It was a great pleasure to see Dr. Thomas Walsh, IIFWP and IIPC Secretary-General, presenting a clear and profound description of how our organizations are contributing in these three areas. Among the activities introduced to President Hunte were the HIV/AIDS and Character Education programs, the proposal to establish an interreligious council at the UN, and the Middle East Peace Initiative. President Hunte was very impressed by the accomplishments of IIFWP/IIPC and expressed his gratitude for such a wide range of activities toward world peace.

Dr. Walsh presented to President Hunte the "Good Governance and Leadership Award" commending him for his leadership at a very unique time in human history.
