169. Song Of The Ark

by Hillie Edwards

Em Am Em
The other night as I knelt by my bed.
B7 Em                                  B7
My Father called to me, and this is what He said:
Em     G    C      Am
"Oh, bring Me two of ev'ry living thing.
Em      B7         Em       B7
And build Me an ark, and we'll sail on. We'll sail on;
Em      B7         Em
And build Me an ark, and we'll sail on."

The years went by and we sailed by the cross;
I cried aloud, but He said, "All is not lost.
Your Lord will come again to greet the world."
I took His word, and we sailed on, we sailed on;
I took His word, and we sailed on.
Today I see, as I look to the East,
A bright new star shines on greatest and least.
He comes at last to free man and beast.
Saying with a mighty joy "Take my hand, and we'll sail on;
Throughout all eternity, we'll sail on."
