Dear Brothers and Sisters,
What is the secret to achieve a successful spiritual life while on earth?
Do you really want to know?
Some say it is found in the B. I. B. L. E. (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth). Perhaps the secret does lie in regular study of holy scripture to some extent. The Apostle James, brother of Jesus, who may very well have been the leader of the early Christian community, said we must not only hear the word of God but also do the word of God. Faith without works is dead.
The founder of the Unification Church is Reverend Sun Myung Moon who has established the True Parents of Heaven and Earth. We need to study his teachings and put them into practice. There are no exceptions and that includes your pastor. None of us is exempt from the requirement to unite our mind and body centered on God, who is the ultimate parental being.
I was very fortunate to sit in front of True Parents in Las Vegas recently. Father asked us, "Have you united your mind and body?" I had to be honest and say "No, Father, some days are better than others but it's a constant struggle." I was astonished to hear him say that even he must work hard to unite mind and body. That was very affirming and I felt his fatherly encouragement for us all, not just me. Father knows the reality of life better than anyone.
Thank God I got up for Hoon Dok Hae that morning and got on the bus at 4 AM. What a cleansing experience to share with True Parents! Still every day I struggle to stay awake for our 5 AM study at home. One day this week, I confess to sleeping in... I had a horrible dream and was attacked by an evil spirit entity. What a great lesson! There really is enormous value in studying Father's words early each day, not only for protection but for learning and growth.
We follow a simple formula now when we study in the morning. Write down the key point of the reading, then a brief reflection statement followed by action points for the day and prayer points to support the determination. This is powerful medicine. I recommend it.
This is a precious time when we receive weekly guidance from the daughter of True Parents, Reverend In Jin Moon. Please come with an open heart and a mind to receive a holy message.
