The Washington Times (TWT) held a pivotal newsroom meeting in its smaller ballroom this morning following news of a sale that is complete. Douglas M. Joo, the new chairman of The Washington Times, who left last November when the paper changed hands, made brief remarks according to sources in the room.

Joo spoke for 10 minutes behind a podium with the TWT seal in the background. He was introduced to sounds of applause. "Words cannot express how I am to see you again this morning. It is a reunion after one year and I have been missing you," he said. He expressed his deepest gratitude. "You have made a monumental effort to keep the times going. You did your absolute best under difficult circumstances."

Joo spoke of a "vigorous" development plan that will created soon: sports, metro, entertainment and opinion. He said we will "vigorously" expand and reach out to the world through new multi-meda platforms. "This is a great new start," he told a packed room that was missing some reporters due to Election Day coverage.
