Hyung Jin Nim’s Protégé

This past week I talked with one of Hyung Jin Nim’s key support people. He is a great guy and speaks English really well. I asked him whether Hyung Jin Nim is grooming a protégé. With recent events in Las Vegas and Hyung Jin Nim’s tour in the United States, it dawned on me that he may be called more and more to be away from our Headquarters Church and Korea. And although he has spent a lot of energy raising the spiritual practice of the pastors and ministers around him, I was unsure whether he had any ministers prepared to take his place should Father call him to do other things.

Personally I find Hyung Jin Nim’s message to be “new school”, meaning he stresses how we need to change our minds and hearts to be citizens of Cheon Il Guk. This differs from “old school” meaning we stress the points that we are sinners and fall short of God’s expectation. No doubt that we all fall short of God’s glory. Sometimes I hear people complain that Hyung Jin Nim does not give the old school message. But of the two messages, the new school is much more difficult to digest. Yes, I can easily believe that I am a sinner. What is tough believe is how to see myself from God’s perspective; that I have divine value, cosmic value, and unique value. This is what I like to call a “Chapter One” problem… we haven’t really digested what is contained within that chapter.

So anyway, I was asking this young man whether Hyung Jin Nim was raising some young charismatic young leaders to fill his shoes when he goes on to do other things. I explained that the definition of ‘protégé’ in this case is: “one who is trained by a person of experience, prominence, or influence.” He indicated that there was no one in the wings being prepared to fill Hyung Jin Nim’s shoes when he is not here.

The “oh, duh!” that struck me today is that I am suppose to be Hyung Jin Nim’s protégé. I need to learn how to inspire others to live the blessed life and live as citizens of Cheon Il Guk. But more than that I feel each and every one of us needs to be Hyung Jin Nim’s protégé. Everyone who understands the amazing and profound meaning of his new school message needs to become Hyung Jin Nim’s protégé.

So congratulations, you are Hyung Jin Nim’s protégé!
