On Monday it was reported to me that Archbishop Smith, in the course of Celebrating Mass at the Holy Cross Church on Sunday, declared to all Catholics to not attend a seminar conducted by the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification.
Such negative and denigrating comments against Father and Mother Moon and FFWPU, have been flowing out of the Archbishop's mouth for more than a decade now.
How is it that the respected and esteemed Archbishop Adrian Smith, spiritual leader of the Roman Catholic Church of the Solomon Islands and servant of our Lord Jesus Christ sees fit to stigmatize and persecute another religious group?
Clearly I profess to you that Jesus is the Messiah through which we all are born anew.
I eagerly await the day when we can sit down and share together in God's presence, as two or more are gathered in His name.
Jesus the Son of God and who is our model of a true man defended those whom the religious leaders of the day shunned. Jesus did not create boundaries. Jesus taught us to "love your neighbor".
Archbishop Smith, I, along with all our Solomon Island members of the FFWPU are your neighbor.
Neighbors at least talk to each other. Why do you consistently persecute us?
If you view Father and Mother Moon and the members of the FFWPU as your enemy, then I must remind you that Jesus also taught to "love your enemy". After more than a decade of trying to meet with you and having respected and devoted Catholics trying to speak to you on our behalf, all our words have fallen on deaf ears.
God's will is bigger than anyone of us. Therefore I feel compelled to take what should be resolved in private to the public arena. My prayers are with you.
