Connecting People to Peace through Service

This past year Service For Peace involved more than 13,000 volunteers in programs conducted in 23 nations with 173 different partners. Thanks to the generous support of our donors, Service For Peace has been able to make great strides in our efforts to expand our impact in new countries, and increase our commitment to existing programs across the globe.

In 2011, the 10th Anniversary of Service For Peace, we will be working closely with Service World, the Building Bridges Coalition, the Global Peace Festival, and other initiatives designed to inspire and promote cooperative service programs on a global level. We are proud to have a strong and vibrant foundation on which we can build, and thanks to your support, Service For Peace volunteers continue to discover that voluntary service provides a potentially life-changing experience and has lasting and substantial impact in communities.

Together we can significantly expand the opportunities for these individuals, and support them in creating Communities of Peace (CP), communities in which an ethic of service prevails, uniting the community around common development goals.

This year we are excited about our plan to improve and expand our Global Peacemakers (GPM) program by partnering with more colleges and universities in order to increase volunteers participation in our programs. Through the GPM programs, we have helped thousands of children throughout the world by building schools and providing them with school supplies through our Back-Pack-Angel program. With your financial support, we can do much more to impact the lives of youth around the world!

Additionally, in order to engage more volunteers in the United States, we have partnered with the Points of Light Institute (POLI) and other national organizations to launch a new online campaign, the MLK Challenge www.mlkchallenge.org. Using social media as well as online recruitment and project fundraising tools, we are connecting to hundreds of new volunteers and inspiring them to create service projects throughout the nation that focus on hunger, homelessness, the environment, education, and much more.

We are steadily improving and expanding our programs throughout the world and we hope we can count on your continued support to ensure that impoverished communities everywhere can experience the injection of hope, energy, and vision that Service For Peace brings to every program. Best wishes to you and your families for a joyous and meaningful holiday season!

Sincerely,
