Mrs. Moon's Entry To Netherlands

Application for clarification re. Dr Hak Ja Han Moon's entry to NL: uitspraak van de rechtbank

On July 26, Wim Koetsier, UPF-NL Secretary General and voorzitrter of the Verenigings Beweging (VB) received notification from lawyers acting to challenge the IND's refusal to grant clear permission for Dr Hak Ja Han Moon to enter the Netherlands that the court had rejected the IND's arguments.

There is no guarantee that the IND will accept this decision, though asked by the judge at the previous hearing to state their intentions, they refused to indicate whether or not they would challenge the ruling of the court.

Within the VB, there is the realistic awareness that this is not the end, that this case may eventually end up in the European Court of Human Rights in Luxembourg, but, for the moment, it is heartening, not just for this case, but when looking at the state of the Netherlands as a whole, to see that the courts in the Netherlands, unlike, it seems, those in Germany, retain their ability (actually, their responsibility) to make decisions independent of government policy.

More information, including a scan of the letter received from the VB's lawyers, is available on request.
