The Words of the Hwang Family |
The First International Hoon Dok Contest was held at the Cheongshim Church, which is in the village that members pass through on the way to the Chung Pyung training center, on 1.12 (February 11) at 1 PM. The jury comprised Prof. Thomas Hwang, a vice-president of FFWPU International, Rev. Gi Seong Lee, vice-president of FFWPU-Korea and Mr. Yeong Gyun Lee, director of the FFWPU-Korea Youth Department. Contestants each had to read for five minutes from the Korean version of the new Cheon Seong Gyeong. Some of the contestants have lived in Korea for some time. The jury assessed each contestant's attitude, how much they connected in heart with the material they were reading and their pronunciation and speed.
Ms. Onishi Kisaki from Japan: I am sincerely grateful to our True Parents for being able to participate in this contest. The reason I have studied Korean in my spare time was because I wanted to directly listen to True Parents' teachings. I was truly happy to be able to read the word in Korean through this precious Cheon Seong Gyeong Hoon Dok contest. I will work hard to become a daughter of our Heavenly Parent by practicing true love.
The International Divine Principle Lecture Contest was held at the same church at 4 PM. A key requirement was that the lecture be given in the Korean language. The jury for this contest comprised Rev. Gi Seong Lee, vice-president of FFWPU-Korea, In Soung Kwun, regional president of Oceania, Do Seon Pak, a Divine Principle lecturer and Yeong Gyun Lee, the director of the FFWPU-Korea Youth Department.
Mr. Alexi Luis Ruiz Medina (South America): This was the first time I stood in front of people to give a Divine Principle lecture. It was not easy and I was very nervous; however, I came to feel many things through this experience. We only had a short time to prepare for the contest and I do not speak Korean well, but I am truly happy to have had this opportunity to come all the way here and present a lecture on True Parents' teachings. It was a good experience and now I feel a hit more confident that I can give a better Divine Principle lecture next time that the opportunity arises.
