Tyler Hendricks
June 3, 2009

UTS is sponsoring a ten-day summer institute for second generation going into 11th grade and 12th grade. The purpose is to prepare young people to have a rich spiritual life during college while at the same time excelling in academic achievement and vocational goals.

The program runs from July 5 - July 14. Cost, including tuition, materials, room and board, is $685 ($100 discount for second child from the same family).

The purposes are:

1. SAT preparation

2. Professional advising on how to get into the right college and gain financial aid, etc.

3. Guidance on how to balance a life of faith with academic excellence during college, including lectures by UTS faculty

The staff is headed up by Dr. Keisuke Noda. Dr. Noda was director of an SAT Prep School in Hartsdale, NY, 1992-2000, prior to becoming a professor at UTS.

Mr. Sergio Alcubilla, a recent UTS graduate who has extensive experience with 2nd gen education and Sports for Peace, will be the program coordinator. SAT preparation teachers will be from recent 2nd gen college graduates from top universities. The college advisory from Dr. Dan Davies talks will come at the very beginning and very end, so that they can include parents as well as the high school participants.

For information on schedule, registration and costs, please contact Dr. Noda.

All the best,

Tyler Hendricks
