Schedule: Job responsibilities begin August 4, 2008. Full-time service means that the person hired is expected to live in commuting distance of the campus.

General Job Description

UTS is seeking an experienced and energetic person to be responsible for the students’ personal spiritual formation, inter-cultural sensitivity, and empowerment to serve communities of the Christian or other faiths. Based upon the Student Handbook and school traditions, the DSLC facilitates the students’ non-academic programs, vocational planning and placement, personal planning (finances, health, family and residential affairs) and moral discipline. The DSLC manages the associated administrative work, is part of the President’s Cabinet, the Outcomes Assessment Committee and Financial Aid Committee, and chairs the Housing Committee. The DSCL directs the Office of Spiritual and Community Life.

Qualifications

• A Masters' degree in pastoral theology, counseling or ministry; clinical pastoral education and/or pastoral counseling experience a plus.

• Ability to write and edit texts (handbooks, announcements, reports).

• Experience in ministry; recognition by his/her faith group as a spiritual leader.

• Ability to work on an administrative team and to mediate student-administration relations.

• Computer skills (MS Word, e-mail; database ability a plus).

• Experience in higher education settings, including outcomes assessment, a plus.

• Experience in interfaith settings and skill in dealing with interfaith sensitivities.

• Ability to take responsibility, innovate and solve problems.

• Strong grounding in the ethos, faith and mission of the Seminary, with the ability to relate equally well to students of one’s own faith and of other faiths.
