Dear e-Cornerstone community,

Greetings from Barrytown.

Director Of Alumni Relations And Development

First of all, Mr. Robin Graham has become our UTS Director of Alumni Relations and Development (part-time). Robin graduated from UTS in the early 80s, and served in CARP, United to Serve America, Global Peacemakers and other activities. He recently completed a master's degree in business management, and is well-suited to take UTS to a new level in terms of serving the alumni, communications and fundraising.

UTS welcomes our Regional Director.

Dr. Park Moving To Chung Pyung Lake

Our beloved physician, Dr. Jaekil Park, has been fighting his cancer with spirit world's help at Chung Pyung Lake over the past months. The word is that his condition is improving. Doctors in America gave up on curing his cancer, and these were the best doctors, because doctors can gain help from their finest colleagues. He will return to this area for 10 days from October 22 and then return for good to Korea, we are informed. We will have a retirement and farewell luncheon at UTS for Dr. Park this Sunday, October 26, after Sunday service. All are welcome, and also your e-mails of best wishes or testimonies will be passed on to him.

Shin Jae Park, in Korea Rev. Jong Jin Kim or Dr. Kyu Young Oh, in Tokyo Rev. Min Phyo Hong, Mr. Katsumi Ogura, or Mr. Ken Saito, in Manila President Michael Zablan, and SF Rev. Kevin Thompson. I look forward to seeing you!

Alumni News

Rev. Mike Yakawich, in Billings, Montana, received an Honorary Doctorate in Biblical Studies from the Hope Alive Bible Institute, Billings, Montana. I know this represents the heart and love that Rev. Y. has contributed for many years to his community and state. Congratulations!

Recent graduate Rev. Sung Ho Hwang, our church leader in Salt Lake City, Utah, became a certified golf instructor.

Rev. Latif Somarin, member of this year's graduating class, became the Vice-Regional Director of the Seattle, Washington, region.

Rev. Jong Jin Kim, also a member of this year's graduating class, became an Assistant to Rev. Sun Jo Hwang, President of our church in Korea. Rev. Kim will also serve as UTS Liaison to Korea.

Rev. Jong Min Kim, also a member of this year's graduating class, is responsible for the thousands of square miles of land our movement has purchased in Paraguay. Rev. Hong tells me that he has positions available for future UTS graduates. I have asked him for details.

Congratulations to the UTS alumni who played key roles in the 40-day project for peace in New York, including President Hwang, Dr. Yang and Rev. Jenkins and the stalwart staff members including Jim Flynn, Michael Balcomb, Robert Kittel and Howard Self. Of course there were a few non-UTS alumni hanging around. And among the volunteers were alums such as Stephen Ngalime, Will Peat and many, many more.

Mrs. Gillian Corcoran, UTS '86, is pioneering a successful ministry called the Labyrinth. She recently hosted a workshop that included 29 people, mostly new people, including some who live right around our neighborhood but never felt welcome to come onto the property. This Sunday she is bringing a "Dowser's Convention" to UTS. We are becoming a garden!

UTS faculty members Dr. Andrew Wilson and Dr. Michael Mickler, staff Mrs. Clare Yasutake, and student Rev. John Jackson, are among the pilgrims participating in the current Israel pilgrimage. We pray for peace in the Middle East!

Student Life

We had a superb golf tournament last Friday. I actually broke 100 (97), which is not bad for having not played since last fall (excuses, excuses). Thanks to the Green Field Club and many contributors to the tournament. We had two Regional Directors join us, and concluded the day at our member's Hana Sushi restaurant in Red Hook.

Students Chris Antal and Isadore Munyakazi have created a "Just Peace Club," and are holding weekly events on thorny issues concerning peace, justice, genocide, religious freedom, the UN, and so forth. The club is advancing a discussion on a Unificationist theory of justice.

UTS WISHES EVERYONE A VICTORIOUS CONCLUSION TO THE MONTH OF OCTOBER!

Sincerely, Tyler Hendricks
