One Family Under God ~ Global Peace Festival ~ Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon - 12 City Tour A Summit for Peace from the Community to the World

Summary NL tour: "Een Wereld - Een Familie onder God: Nieuwe Impulsen voor Wereldvrede en de VN"

On Wednesday, November 21, UPF-NL will hold the last of a series of meetings under the heading "Een Wereld - Een Familie onder God: Nieuwe Impulsen voor Wereldvrede en de VN", in Almere. Het Glazen Huis, see Een Wereld - Een Familie onder God: Woensdag 21 nov., 20.00, Almere.

These meetings have been in support of, mirroring, a 12 city tour in the United States, being undertaken by UPF co-founder Mrs. Dr.Hak Ja Han Moon, accompanied by her son Dr. Hyun Jin Preston Moon, UPF co-chairman, greatly supported by the clergy of numerous denominations and religions - see American clergy promote "One Family under God" speaking tour. Numerous other countries are also participating.

This 12 city tour in turn follows on from a speaking tour in Korea which culminated in a rally attended by more than 50,000 local UPF Ambassadors for Peace, international guests and UPF members held on the campus of Sun Moon University, to commemorate the successful establishment of what Rev. Moon refers to as the Abel UN and the 57th anniversary of his release from the Hungnam labor camp in North Korea.

The speech he delivered then, which is also the focal point of these November tours, is titled "A Providential View of the Pacific Rim Era in Light of God's Will", with the subtitle "The United States and the Future Direction of the United Nations and the World", and was first delivered by him at the UPF Assembly 2007, New York, September 23 before a most distinguished international audience, including prominent delegates from the Netherlands..

The meetings have also featured music and song and a presentation of UPF's Ambassador for Peace Initiative. In Utrecht, UPF-NL Ambassador for Peace Imam Hamza Kailani said that the title Ambassador was usually qualified with "of The Netherlands" or some other country; but UPF's ambassadors were FOR peace, which made their function more assertive and more demanding. He himself had found it a challenge, consciously living up to this title and the motto "living for the sake of others", but it was very satisfying. He opined that UPF was the only organization substantially bringing reconciliation between Christians and Moslems, something he had been personally striving for or many years. "9/11" had nothing to do with Islam, of the 1,800 victims 300 were Moslems. A true Moslem sought to build a harmonious family life and expand peace from there.

Mw. Marlene Waal spoke of growing up in a family of 14 children and having been lucky to have such good parents, who taught her that whatever one's situation, one had to do one's best to do good, and this resonated with her experience with UPF, in theory and in practice: she felt "at home", comfortable, as she did in her own worship community, The Revival Fellowship.

The evening started with the singing of the UPF anthem "Blessing of Glory" and a medley of songs inspired by the vision and teachings of Rev. Moon.

After seeing the video "Blessed Family and the Ideal of Peace", UPF-NL Secretary General Drs. Wim Koetsier reflected on the purpose of UPF. Present society tended to focus on economic growth, not so much on spiritual growth and all religious groups needed to be more to the fore, woking together to fulfill their common goal. The past week had been devoted to helping Dafur (aktie voor Dafor/ tot zover Dafur), people wanted to help others less fortunate and today news travelled almost instantly, communication was much closer and quicker. Increasingly one found good leaders working in 'non profit organizations', in the past "practical" people had thought that idealism was not relevant to "real life", but love was the most powerful energy in the universe. We all were important, whaetver our professional status and we all had to give of our best, following our conscience

Popular TV shows like Oprah and Dr. Phil showed that when people had problems they needed to realize that it was they themselves that needed to change, not blame someone else. This was the problem in the Middle East, each side wanted the other to change, they would be better trying to help each other. We needed to live FOR others, not FROM others

The main "Pacific Rim Era" speech was read by UPF-Utrecht's Jacques Verhoeven and Ambassador for Peace certificates were given to five leaders of a Scouting group in Maarssen who run a special project for young people every summer, building a "hout stad". They showed a few slides this activity and their leader told some amusing and heartwarming stories about the children. They told the children "we do this for you and also for our own satisfaction", that was a major element of Scouting, together with being people together, being active and leaning many skills.
