The Words of the Cotter Family |
Rev. Cotter: Good evening. We will focus on some guidance from In Jin Nim concerning the recent letter from Hyun Jin Nim.
I will share some things that In Jin Nim shared last night. She asked me specifically to hold this call. I will share as honestly as I can and we will take questions or comments.
Many of you saw the letter that came out from Hyun Jin Nim. It was distributed across America to many, many members. It has been forwarded around. We can send it out to everyone in case you haven't seen it for your reference. It was targeted at our American Blessed families. There is a website for response.
Rev. Rendel and I forwarded it to In Jin Nim after we received it so that we can prepare a national response from HQ. In Jin Nim called me last night. She did not feel that a public response was necessary because we thoroughly have vetted this issue and revealed the facts. Most recently was the rally to affirm True Parents proclamation. The program we did in America will be used in other English speaking nations around the world. True Parents have weighed in and given Hyun Jin Nim every opportunity to come back and he continues to defy True Parents by holding the Global Peace Festival, stealing assets, selling precious assets: all of this is rooted in one place: In Jin Nim said we should not have a public response but asked Rev. Cotter to speak to all of you so that you know how to clearly respond to members who many come to you.
In her service today she addressed the 2 suicides and attempted suicide. She has an incredible pastoral preaching conclusion that was directly connected to this letter. One of Hyun Jin Nim's recurring themes is that Father did not want to form a church; we don't need a ministry or church. What he doesn't mention is the incredible ministries of Hyung Jin Nim and In Jin Nim that have revived our church and gives hope to our families. I thought it was brilliant how she compared it to North Korea: a `sham or a shell'. The same can be said of the Global Peace Festival activities. He toots his own horn saying that he will continue Global Peace Festival and it was stand as the fruits of Father's works. The fact is that they are spending millions on failed events that are not very successful as reported. He is holding this up as the achieved representing Father's legacy even though Father has denounced this.
He never mentions that Father asked him to stop Global Peace Festival. She wants us to be very clear about one thing: True Parents have asked Hyung Jin Nim, Kook Jin Nim and In Jin Nim to start to get the truth to our members (as in two years ago with Phyllis -- at True Parents request). True Parents have asked their children to further educate the reason that Father specifically could not allow Hyun Jin Nim to be his heir and stand as the elder son. Ironically he used the term elder son and elder brother in his letter. True Parents have given that role to Hyung Jin Nim.
Father asked him to stop Global Peace Festival and spend a year internally was Father's concern about Hyun Jin Nim's problem with women (well documented) True Parents wanted him to come to their side, work it out and repent for his sin and come back. Hyun Jin Nim has steadfastly refused to do that. Even with this knowledge that the whole family as of his transgressions, he attacks In Jin Nim and Kook Jin Nim with the same accusations. True Parents asked that this be shared with top leaders. They were very reluctant to do so. With this letter coming, it's important that the church leadership understand so we can explain it to members.
Because of Hyun Jin Nim's refusal to face up to this sins. That is the main reason for his split with True Parents. In this letter, he talks about his great work before the time of his split with True Parents in March of 2008. The family and True Parents have no problem with the public things he did before the split. They were totally behind what he was doing. Father was planning to take it on himself. True Parents are happy with all that he did up until 2008. Hyun Jin Nim talks of the split but will not give the real reason for it. In 2008 he should have accepted True Parents direction and humbly accepted the decision to appoint Hyung Jin Nim based on his purity. His chapter 2 problems were the issue. Hyun Jin Nim has never accepted Hyung Jin Nim as his Abel. In his letter he says he totally disregards the leaders of HSA.
Hyun Jin Nim accuses us of laying the blame at Rev. Kwak's feet. He denies that and says it is all his own choice. They sought to protect him from a direct hit but buffering him with the In Laws. Father said Rev. Kwak has "killed his son". The family wants to give Hyun Jin Nim an `out'. That is the reason we presented the information the way we did (even though we knew that Hyun Jin Nim was doing this). But now, he rejects that buffer through this letter. He takes the blame for everything. The family is very saddened by that. In Jin Nim wants us to be absolutely clear about the facts.
Young people may be confused. Hyun Jin Nim is actively reaching out to young adults.
Hyun Jin Nim is very distressed, emotional and tearful in his internal meetings because he is not reaching anybody. Only a close groups like Kenshu Aoki. From In Jin Nim's view he has been appointed as 2nd in charge. He was a CARP leader and raised by Mito. He has moved back to the Bay Area. He has reached out to Tomeo and offered him the job of CEO of Global Peace Festival. In Jin Nim wants to caution us. They are being offered lots of money. If he senses there are communities where the Lovin' Life foundation is weak, he will send people there to pull the young people away. This is her perception. The best defense against what he is doing is to build Lovin' Life Ministries strongly in your main city. This is the reason In Jin Nim is going through all this trouble to put the Lovin' Life Pastors in place. She sees Lovin' Life as the antidote to all that Hyun Jin Nim is doing, but more than that, as a way to save our families.
District Pastors, please follow the model from New York. Find that pastoral couple and implement it. She is very concerned about Kenshu. We need to reach him and stop him from reaching our young adults.
In Jin Nim laid out the reason for this ministry today. GPA people are writing her in tears. They say that before then they didn't believe in Lovin' Life Ministries. Seeing it up close, they are completely changed. We had a long phone call last night and she wants us to be really clear.
Pastor Mike Yakawich is now with Hyun Jin Nim. He served for 23 years. We have no problem with all he's done up until he separated from True Parents. When he went to Global Peace Festival and didn't report. I suspended him pending his reporting to the District Pastors. Yakawich was accountable to Larry Krishnek and was dismissed as a consequence. He showed up at the next conference with Hyun Jin Nim.
Jin Sung Nim met with Eugene Harnett up in Alaska. It seems like Jin Sung Nim finally got through to it. He admitted that Howard Self had sort of twisted his thinking.
It's a matter of time until Hyun Jin Nim's foundation falls apart. His letter is a desperate attempt. In Jin Nim says the best we can do is to build Lovin' Life Ministries. The District Pastors need to find the remaining 5 District Pastors. She absolutely believes that Lovin' Life Ministries is the answer. If you haven't built a viable Lovin' Life ministry then you should repent and immediately put it into practice.
She said that building an interfaith peace movement is necessary. Our families were suffering. You could hear her seriousness. She really depends on this team of leaders to get it and implement the entire ministry. Inherit it. It's the only way for us to reach out, bring our families together and save our children. We are educating families now and its life changing.
It was a big struggle for her to take on STF because it came out of Hyun Jin Nim's culture. They were resistant to change. In Jin Nim took the time to help them to change and they have. Now it is the Generation Peace Academy. It ends the past era of Hyun Jin Nim. His culture was not the culture of heart as it is under In Jin Nim. True Parents know and support In Jin Nim's work.
This was just pouring out of her. She emphatically wants to make these points to us all. Larry Krishnek can edit these and they will be sent out together with the notes of the service and Heather's letter. You don't need to actively talk about it, but you need to be clear. Everything in Hyun Jin Nim's letter is old news. While he has been failing at building his legacy, In Jin Nim is building and unshakable foundation and is trusted completely by True Parents. Everything stated here comes from In Jin Nim.
Mark H: I got several calls saying that In Jin Nim `knocked it out of the park' last Sunday. She is going right to the heart of things that really matter. Hyun Jin Nim's four references to True Parents are done in a far off way. He never mentions Mother. At one point, two years ago, around the time that Father relieved Hyun Jin Nim, he wrote a report that is damning. I think it would be really powerful for members to be clear that Hyun Jin Nim believes that True Mother is (undermining) him before True Father.
Dr. Anne: Hyun Jin Nim made comments on the `Legacy' issue. In Jin Nim is leading us in the ministry. The 14 year old who attempted suicide is from NJ and the father, who I spoke to, was very, very moved by In Jin Nim's sermon today. We need ministries that will support our families. At the same time, In Jin Nim is supporting OSDP where ministers are getting the truth straight up. The ministry to our families is upon us.
Tom Cutts: I met with Ken Bates this morning. He's not really open for discussion but I made it clear that there have been many false leaders who have taken members and funds away, just because someone is a child of True Parent, I'm not going to follow them. Father is Father through eternity like Jesus. They cannot be replaced. In the letter, Hyun Jin Nim talked about Father's principles, values and legacy. It's a bunch of bunk. The values have been there for thousands of years, but it's True Father than embodies them. Without his substantiation, there are only ideas. I'm confounded in Miami -- I'm getting close to telling some of them to not come to church because I fear they are attempted to subvert our church. They are coming to evangelize.
Rev. Cotter: Ken Bates has already gone way too far. Invite Jin Sung Nim down to Forida. He turned Eugene around. (Tom -- he did come and toured my district and was very complementary to our leadership there and won the hearts of our 2nd generation.)
George Kazakos: I have found in Jersey and here that it occurs to people that Lovin' Life Ministries is an experience on a screen, but in reality it's a comprehensive program. I find it offensive is that we have to repeat this at every turn. Advertisers know we need to repeat 7 times. When you go one on one with people they have the `aha' experience. So we need to repeat everything that is available every single week.
Rev. Cotter: We are approaching 200 pastors for OSDP in Atlantic City. Then we have the program in Chicago. In Jin Nim will take Lovin' Life Ministries live to Chicago on Sunday. True Parents may come to Chicago.
