Denmark

In 1980, Jette Jensen Suaris from Denmark finally received approval to enter Greenland, where she had long wanted to go as the first missionary. Greenland had been a Danish colony from 1721 to 1953, when it became an independent country. As the entire population is no more than 55,000, the country still receives assistance from Denmark. As the fastest way to go to Greenland from Denmark was to apply to work as a government official in Greenland, she did this and was accepted. However, as she received a lot of persecution, she found another job after two years. Since then she took with her church pamphlets to visit house after house. Her husband Alain Suaris joined her in January 1983. They legally registered the church with the government on February 23, 1985.
