The Netherlands

Missionary work began with the arrival of missionary Teddy Verheyen from the United States on March 21, 1965. In August 1965, Reverend Moon visited the Netherlands and selected a Holy Ground in part of Amsterdam. That year, Divine Principle was published in Dutch. The missionary's house served as the church headquarters. He made an impression on many people through his ceaseless prayer and fasting. However nobody joined the church at the beginning.

On September 18, 1967, Johan van der Stok, who had become a member in the United States, joined him. In two months Johan witnessed to his parents, brothers and sisters. He and his family began to work together with Teddy Verheyen, witnessing to two new members in August 1968.

The church in the Netherlands dispatched missionaries to Greece and South Africa in 1969 and in the early 1970 respectively. Missionaries were also sent to Israel and Iran in 1971.On September 1, 1977 Henk Dijk took over responsibility as leader of the Dutch church and Teddy Verheyen came to assume a new responsibility in the United States. Henk Dijk concentrated on laying the economic foundation. In cooperation with several European countries, the Netherlands published a magazine Doorbraak in 1978. Mr. Dijk went to Britain in 1979, and vice-leader Frank van der Stok assumed his position.

Mr. and Mrs. Andre Haring were appointed the new leaders in 1985. They developed

the home church movement in order to create a stronger spiritual and economic foundation, and also initiated ecumenical work.
