Sweden

Reverend Moon visited Sweden on July 24, 1965 to select a Holy Ground in Stockholm. The history of missionary work began with the coming of Friedhilde Bachle to Stockholm from Germany on December 5, 1969. As she had come with nothing, finding a job was a first priority. Although she made an effort to spread the Principle by setting up various organizations, the first two years did not produce any visible results.

The first member joined in 1973. In August 1978, Odd Aune from Norway was appointed as a new national leader. Unfortunately, however, she was hospitalized due to a car accident while attending a 120-day workshop in New York. In 1981, therefore, Hans Carlson assumed responsibility as national leader.

Since 1985, the number of blessed couples has increased and they have became the core of the Swedish church. The fortunes of the church have also developed worldwide.
